This week in class we’ll be discussing where the ideas behind our government came from. Before the United States was the United States the people living in the Colonies had certain ideas about how they felt they should be treated. These ideas were influenced by many things within their culture. The fact that many of them were literate and of European descent meant that they had access to the writings of the “Natural Rights Philosophers.” People like John Locke and Thomas Hobbes had all written on the purpose of government and what good government should look like. I posted this picture to illustrate what stores in our town might look like in a state of nature.

Based on what we’ve learned in class, do you think government is necessary? Why or Why not?
State of Nature?
I think government is necessary because without it America Wouldnt Be america. We would all be rioting or unhappy and everything around us would be chaos. We need a government to keep everyone together and in line.
indeed, the government helps keep us in check, and to make sure that everyone isn’t running around killing each other, and running in the nude

i do think government is necessary becaues there might be a time when america is in a major crisis,and if we dont know what the do we all might die from it. thats why we need the government to keep us in line and safe.
I think that government is necisary, however you spell that, because if we did not, the like Lacy said, we would be full on roit mode, and if we think that our phones being taken away is bad, *haha* we got another thing comming. that would be being rewarded for being bad. And also, There would probaly be more roberies, and killings, and less security, and wroset of all, there would not be a school for us to learn then we would be der-duh-ders.

I think government is neccesary because without it we probably couldnt have a family because we probably wouldnt trust anyone.
yes! I think government is neccasary because without it, people can go around doing whatever they want, like killing people for example, they can get away with it because there is no government to chase them down.it would be CHAOS!!!!
I think that government is nessacary because then there would be no conseqences for you actions, so you could do anything. You also need the government to make the rules/laws.
yes we need government. without it you would have to protect yourself! and some people wouldnt be able to do that, if your smaller than someone else who threatens you. it would be crazy and probably scary. you would never know what would be coming.

Yes I do think that government is needed. Otherwise there would be people murdering and stealing and no one to stop it. The world would be a mess.
yes, i think government is nessecary because, if not.. no one would be safe, there would be like no laws. everything would just be uncontrolable and we wouldnt be able to do anything about it, because we wouldnt have a government.
I believe we need gorvernment to keep everything from going crazy. If we didn’t have it, everything would be in total chaos & everybody would be insecure and scared. People would also be killing each other left and right and nobody would have the authority to put them in jail.
yeah..i think government is neccesary because without it would be total crazy things happening more people will be dying or getting killed for absolutily no reason,no one will have respect from others,kid dont have to go school if they didnt want to,more car accidents and more crime every thing will be JACKED UP!! without government we need government regardless.
Yes, government is very important, if everyone was kind and caring then there wouldn’t be too many problems but not everyone is like that; there are people who would steal and hurt others, so no one would be safe. Life would be chaotic and horrible for many many people without government.
Yes we would always need government! If we didn’t we would all go into a state of nature and the whole world would be in chaos. Plus it would be the worst thing in the world!!!!!!!!!:)
YES because,umm like if u didn have goverment this place would be CRAZY! Everyone would be doing what they want and everyone would be poor cause there would be no jobs because everyone would be stealing the material from the jobs! that is why i think we should have a goverment! (:
Yes, I think government is a good idea because it helps to prevent bad crimes such as murders, burglaries. But when they do happen they are arrested to protect us. They can be arrested because of the laws the government makes.
I think government is important because one day the hole united states will go down and their will be no one to support us, and because we need someone to keep the country from doing so many bad things.
