Yes, I think government is a good idea because it helps to prevent bad crimes such as murders, burglaries. But when they do happen they are arrested to protect us. They can be arrested because of the laws the government makes.
Colonist, because freedom is suppose to be free and that is why they came over here from England. The reason why I don’t think they should pay a tax is because they did not particapte in the war.
I agree with Daniell, and i do not think the colonist should be taxed because they were not being representid in England, so they had no voice. So they had no chioce. If you know what i am saying.
Personally i agree with the colonists are they have no right to be taxed. There was no member of parliament.There making all oh the choices how to tax and it is not fair.

Well, the devestation is especially bad because Haiti is not as rich as California. Money has a lot to do with devestation as bad as that is. America should be helping Haiti because we have alot more money to aid them with. Also, Haiti most likely dosen’t have as good as buildings as we do here. Most people probably built there homes.

My Answer:
I think that the damage and devestation was so bad because Haiti is a far less fortunate country than we are. They dont have the money to pay for their own releif efforts, whereas California has more money for health care and food so less people died there. In conclusion, the reason that an earthquake of same magnitude did so much damage is because Haiti is a poorer country.
I think the damage and devistation was so devistating in Haiti because thay are a relly poor and cant pay for their own releif efforts were as california can affored releif efforts and did alot more damage in Haiti because their houses and buildings are not built very good.

The reason why devastation was so bad, the building structures were not good, well built buildings. They were not properly built and re-inforced like those buildings here in America. When the earthquake hit, their buildings simply crumbled to the ground, because the structures were not built to code like what we have here.
People lost their homes and jobs, People died during the earthquake and people are continuing to die because of lack of water and food. Lots of kids have lost their parents and are wandering the streets looking for help. America is going to Haiti to help is the right thing to do.
The devastation in Haiti was so much worse than in California because they are a poor country. Their buildings don’t have to meet a specific code to make sure that they are strong enough to last natural disasters. The buildings are not built with strong concrete to reinforce the structure. They also don’t have enough money to buy supplies, food, medical equipment,hospitals or any equipment (such as bulldozers) to provide relief to the people. The education level is a lot lower so they also don’t have as many doctors who can treat injuries or any roads built to get to the disaster areas. Because the US has the money and people to get what they need done and fixed I think that we should send people, money, supplies, and equipment to help those people who are less fortunate.
Thanks everyone for your responses. I believe the common theme from everyone is the thought that because Haiti doesn’t have the resources we have in the United States, a catastrophe hits them much harder than it hits us.
I think it’s also very important to note that New Orleans is still cleaning up after Hurricane Katrina from 4 years ago! Many people don’t think too much about them because they aren’t in the news as much as they used to be, but I’m sure the people living there wish they could get more help.
i think that the devistation in haiti was so bad because as every body said, they dont have a lot of money to build good structures like we do. And we feel obligated to help them because of that factor.

I think that the devastation in Haiti was bad because the people of Haiti had very little to start with… and now what they did have was destroyed. The difference between California and haiti was that California had reinforced buildings and special earthquake proof areas to wait out the earthquake. While Haiti had the roof over there head and a small table to duck under.

I think that the reason it was so bad in Haiti was because they didn’t have enough protection against earthquakes because they didn’t have enough money to build good homes and buildings. I also think they have a lot more people in a little area who weren’t ready for such a big impact of such a big earthquake.
Health Care —–>President Obama urges congress not to walk away from health care. Will it($) reach record heights? Good Politics. He took on health care because of the stories he heard. He will not walk away from those americans he will help them. It will strengthen medicare for seinors. Would reduce our debts will not dig us out of a massive hole which we are in. We will eliminate programs that dont work. He will continue tax cuts for oil companies.
Unemployment/Jobs —-> President Obama says he gets letters from children asking when their parents will go back to work. He wants to help americans who have become unemployed. He cuts taxes, he doesn’t raise income taxes on a single dime. Lay a new foundation for long term economic growth.
Forign Policy/ War Terror —-> Germeny, China, ect. are making clean energy because they want those jobs. Didnt say much about it?????
Energy/ Enviornment/ Global Warming/ Dependence on forign oil/ Economy —-> President Obama hated the bailouts of the banks. Recovery act known as stimulous bill cuts taxes and saves jobs. We should start in small buisnesses. A srong heathy financial buisness. Safe clean nuclear plants policy. Sink new markets competitively.

President Obama wants to make healthcare more affordable for the american families. He wants to make sure that all americans have health care for all types of health care needs. He wants to use a trillion dollars of the money the banks paid back to the government to help fund or support healthcare costs.
President Obama wants to make government spending more transparent and accountable to the american people by having a separate website for congress to disclose their spending. He wants by 2011 to freeze government spending to help reduce the deficit. The purpose of the freeze is make our govenment accountable and more responsible to helping pay back to the national debt.
President Obama is wanting a Job’s bill to get people back to work. Wants tax incentives for small and large businesses to keep jobs in the USA. He wants to raise the tax and imports and increase the amount of exported goods. He wants jobs to focus on clean energy and solar power and wind power. He wants the jobs that went to other countries shut down and coe back to the USA to support our own country. Rebate for homeowners to switch over to more enery efficient products.
President Obama was the Iraqi government to take over its own county by June of 2011 and end the war and bring all of our troops home. He wants all americans to have a good attitude to all of the troops when they come back home. He wants to prevent other countries who are producing nuclear weapons from falling into the hands of terrorists. He wants the production of the nuclear weapons reduced or eliminated.
President Obama spoke to the american people about what he wants and expects to happen during his administration. He realizes that he can not do it by himself and is calling on both parties to set aside differences to get the job done.
President Obama wants to create more jobs like in a fast railroad, and he is going to Florida today to talk about one that goes from Tampa to Orlando. He aslo is putting a 3 year spending freeze. Make more loans available to small businesses and make tax cuts on capital gains for small businesses. In the military he says we need to support them in war and when they come home, and that we need to reverse the law that says that they can’t be in the military if they are gay. The only thing I heard him say about healthcare was that he didn’t want it to fail now. On foreign policy he says that we are in an agreement with Russia to have a treaty with them on arms control. And that Iran should face growing concequeses if they keep up making their nuclear arms. And we must secure all of our boarders and make good immigration laws.
Health Care:
We still need health insurance reform. The reform would give the chance to everyone to get health care. Mrs. Obama is trying to get kids healthier so they are not so obese. President Obama doesn’t want Congress to walk away from the reform because we are so close. The reform would also reduce defecate.
Unemployment/Jobs:
1 in ten Americans still cannot find work. 2 million Americans right now would rather be unemployed. 1 and a half million more jobs by the end of this year because of tax cuts, and Stimulence Bill. The economy is starting to build back up. But there are also downfalls because some people don’t know where there next pay check will come from. President Obama wants jobs to be the number 1 concern in 2010. President Obama wants there to be a bill tonight! Companies are ready to grow. Also wants money from banks on Wall St. to give money to the small businesses to “keep them afloat”. We should put Americans to work building greener and environmentally friendly buildings. There will be a lot more clean energy jobs. We need to export more goods to support jobs in America, over the next 5 years we will have 2x more exports which will create 2 million jobs. We will loose the chance to create jobs on our shores if we don’t.
Foreign Policy/War Terror:
Open up more trades with other countries. We are increasing our troops in Afghanistan, to finish the job and bringing them home from Iraq. We will have all of our combat troops out of Iraq by the end of October. The war in Iraq is ending and all of our troops are coming home. He seeks a world without nuclear weapons. We our helping Haiti to recover and re-build.
Energy/Environment/Global Warming/Dependence on Foreign Oil:
We should put Americans to work building more green and environmentally buildings and give rebates to people who have green homes to promote green living. President Obama is concerned about our economy. We need to make sure families have information on financial things. There will be a lot more clean energy jobs. Also wants cleaner nuclear factories. Clean energy will become a big thing in America. There lots of new ways to have cleaner energy.

Well, When the war was over…many people started to sell and trade (not saying they didn’t before the war) and some found little areas near rivers, and built a buisness there for when people sailed…and traded from other countries, and then there was more and more buisnesses, and soon that place would become a port city. And if there was something on sale, like an Ipod touch 32GB, then you would soooo buy it, but if there was a ziplock, USED ziplock bag, for a dollar, you know that you can get a whole BOX of like 38 Ziplock baggies, for a dollar at the store, you wouldn’t buy it. And it was the same principal back then too.
And our transportation was affected because after, we envented steam boats, and steam trains. (sorry, can’t remember too much about that stuff
